Jesus understands our lives because he was human too. He faced the same hardships and personal struggles that we encounter on a daily basis. He felt our deepest sadness and experienced our darkest solitude. Above all, Jesus gets us. In Jesus' time, communities were deeply divided by bitter differences in religious beliefs, political positions, income inequality, legal status, and ethnic differences. But where was Jesus in all of this? Did he align with the religious elites? Or did he start an uprising to overthrow them? Neither of the above.Instead, he went from town to town, offering hope, new life, and modeling a different way to live and to change the world. Instead of pursuing power, money, or religious authority, he shared a loving and sacrificially generous way of living--he championed a better way. But how can we understand the Jesus of the Bible today?Inside the pages of He Gets Us, you'll find 14 of the most frequently asked questions about Jesus, including:Was Jesus ever stressed? Was Jesus ever lonely?Did Jesus ever mourn?Did Jesus have fun?How did Jesus deal with injustice? Was Jesus fed up with politics? Each chapter includes an FAQ, detailed responses from contributors of He Gets Us and selected writings from New York Times bestselling author Max Lucado, a QR code that takes you to a profound video that you can watch and share with others, and timeless Scripture verses.Whether you're exploring faith for the first time, seeking answers to life’s difficult questions, or looking for a deeper relationship with Jesus, He Gets Us will be your guide every step of the way.

Love the commercials and LOVE this book- taking the most important book of all time (Bible) and plucking out the scriptures and stories that prove that Jesus is more relevant today than ever! LOVED the videos and the references at the back of the book as well. EXCELLENT He Gets Us: Experiencing the confounding love, forgiveness, and relevance of Jesus Online ePUB epub online Easy......to read. For starters, what I like about this is, it's not "heady".The topic, concepts, ideas presented are just pure and easy to grasp.I didn't notice this when I ordered, so let me give my overview of this book.I thought it was entirely written by Max Lucado.Really though, there are two authors; it is clearly shown on the product page:"by Max Lucado (Author), He Gets Us (Author)""He Gets Us" is what I would describe as a movement, an organization that wants to introduce people to what is perhaps a side of Jesus, that many have not considered or pondered. So, each easy to read, short chapter starts with a sort of introduction of that chapters topic, a contemporary overview or sometimes, a background, if you will. That is followed by a QR code that links to a short video on that same topic, and after the QR code is a selection of writing (again in the same vein or topic) by Max Lucado. Most of the time the QR codes would open something, sometimes not (even after several attempts).A website name will pop up in the QR code, you touch on that and it opens (or should) open the link. For me, thus far, these chapters are good reminders.I've been a Lover of Jesus for many, many years, so while the chapters are good reminders, I think of them as more aimed to someone that is searching; someone that really isn't sure who Jesus is, why He is important and why they would consider Him relevant and someone they want in their life.I find them encouraging, again, nice "reminders" for me and because they are short, flowing, and easy to read; I can imagine using this as a devotional. This book is physically pretty small. The actual dimensions are 7 1/4" tall, 5" wide, and 1/2" thick. The paper the pages are printed on are not what I would describe as "deluxe" paper stock; closer to newspaper stock paper (but thicker). There are offerings of FREE items; T-Shirts, Hats, Stickers, with various sayings on them, such as:"Hate is loud Jesus loved louder"These (order forms for the free items) and background about the group, organization or movement, however you choose to describe "He Gets Us", can be found on their website."The workman is worthy of his wages".While I want to respect that, and the cost of providing free gear, the cost of producing videos and all that goes into this project, I think for someone that is searching, this would be more inviting if the cover price of this were substantially less than the current cover price of $14.99 for the paperback version.I hope this review has enabled you to make an informed purchase decision.I rarely give an overall 5 star rating. PDF He Gets Us: Experiencing the confounding love, forgiveness, and relevance of Jesus free ebook This is a book about Jesus. And I am a follower of Jesus. I'm not a pastor nor do I have a seminary degree. However, I've been intrigued by the "He Gets Us" ad campaign. I watched the "He Gets Us" ads on TV and I heard some commentary from various outlets about this ad campaign. When I had a chance to order this book, I was too intrigued not to order it.The authors make it clear in the introduction that this book aims to re-introduce people to Jesus. Each short chapter asks a question regarding Jesus such as "Did Jesus ever get stressed?" or "Did Jesus have fun?" Each chapter starts off with some commentary from the "He Gets Us" organization around the question presented in the beginning of the chapter. The chapter then has a QR code that leads to an online video regarding the chapter. These videos are available publicly online. The chapter then ends with an excerpt from the writings of Christian author, Max Lucado. Each chapter is brief and easy to understand. They all point towards the humanity of Jesus. Most faith traditions that refer to themselves as "Christian" believe that Jesus is truly God and truly human. Often Christians are so invested in the Deity of Jesus that they forget about the humanity of Jesus. As a Christian, I found this book an excellent reminder of Jesus's humanity. The authors paint vivid pictures with their words on the human things that Jesus did. This includes crying, mourning, being born, and even laughing. For persons not familiar with Jesus, these chapters are accessible and easy to understand. In the later chapters the authors use a lot of "church words" that might be difficult to understand for someone who is not familiar with Jesus. These include words like "grace", "mercy", "holiness", and so on. I wish the authors would have spent some time discussing what these words mean.I'm also concerned that one might walk away from this book with the wrong idea. There's a lot of emphasis that Jesus understands what we go through as humans, but the message of humans needing to become followers of Jesus is easy to miss. In isolation, it would be easy to read this book and say, "Jesus is a good guy... so what?"For a Christian, this is an excellent resource to use to introduce someone not familiar with Jesus to Jesus and his humanity. But just as toast doesn't make a complete breakfast, the Christian using this book as an evangelism tool should also consider supplementing it with discipleship. I enjoyed this book and would recommend reading it. ePUB He Gets Us: Experiencing the confounding love, forgiveness, and relevance of Jesus ebook gratuito As a graduate of seminary and a pastor for twenty years, I find this book an interesting read when you consider the target audience. From my reading, I would guess that this book is targeted to anyone who doesn't know Jesus besides what they might hear from sound bites on TV.I would say that this book aims to show the human side of Jesus which I have always felt was important to fully grasp his sermons, parables, and other teachings. So this book is broken down with chapters dedicated to one question & two answers/responses. One response from the "He Gets Us" people, and one from Max Lucado.Max Lucado's name ads some level of credibility to this book, but I am not really a fan of his commentary in it. I feel that it is a little long-winded at times and has more fluff than substance. The commentary by "He Gets Us" is actually lacking in that they try to keep it short for easy reading, but sometimes way too short. There could be so much more to share to help people really understanding the humanity of Jesus that I feel they might have missed the mark a little on this.Overall, it follows the first rule of "Do no harm". I don't think this book should cause anyone to stumble. Will it bring people into a closer relationship with God? Maybe.I did like it, but didn't love it.I hope this review was helpful.
